Eldercare SA Seeing The Benefit of Mobile X-Ray

Dec 11, 2018

Palliative & Aged Care Nurse Practitioner, Mark Rogers, has given a glowing review of ACI SA and the benefits Mobile X-Ray is giving the residents of Eldercare Allambi & Seaford in South Australia.

Mark's vision for providing treatment for the elderly has really provided an opportunity for ACI SA establish itself here in Adelaide,  "For residents within a residential Aged Care facility, the coordination of transporting a resident to an appointment can be very complex, confronting and worrying for a resident with dementia" Mark says.

"I have been able to diagnose and treat heart failure, aspirate pneumonia, LRTI, pulmonary effusion, arthritis, spinal crush fractures and bowel obstruction."

The benefits of a Mobile X-Ray service are really now becoming clear.  The service is playing a direct role in reducing potential hospital admissions and allowing the residents of Eldercare the option of being treated in the comfort of their own room. "The digital images are immediate, a clinical report is provided within 24 hours and complex clinical care is able to be provided immediately within the home."

Aged Care Imaging aim has always been to provide the elderly or immobile with options in how they would like to have their healthcare provided.  Unfortunately growing older presents challenges to many in Aged Care, with immobility and anxiety causing issues with transportation of residents to traditional Radiology sites.  Our X-Ray service gives residents a choice, to reduce the discomfort and trauma of transport and remain comfortable at home, while still receiving a 'Gold Standard' imaging service.
